Tran Dinh and Tommy Trinh Give A Technicolor Twist to a Classic Venue

Tran Dinh and Tommy Trinh

August 23, 2020

In the world of rom-coms, there’s nothing more romantic than a wedding. And why not? The champagne flows freely, the dress code is formal, and the music is on point. But either Tran Dinh hadn’t watched 27 Dresses in a while, or she wasn’t in the mood for love back in the summer of 2017 when she was a bridesmaid at her cousin’s wedding. In fact, her meet-cute with handsome guest Tommy Trinh wasn’t actually all that cute. “He introduced himself to me, and I thought, ‘Why is this guy talking to me?’ ” she says. While the couple shared a drink and even took a spin on the dance floor, they quickly went their separate ways.

Still, Tommy must have done something right because just 10 days later, Tran found herself driving to Houston to see him. They decided to give a relationship a go, and three years later, they sealed the deal at the Olana.

Despite August-in-Texas temps and a smaller guest list due to COVID, the couple says they wouldn’t change a single thing about their big day. And like all the best romantic comedies, Tran even experienced a change of heart. “I always thought love was for losers, so I never even envisioned a wedding. I’m happy
to report we’re losers now!” —Laura Kostelny
