Everything was coming up roses on Averi Barron and Christopher Goff’s wedding day.
Fort Worth native Christopher Goff played tourist on his first date with resident New Yorker Averi Barron: lunch in Times Square followed by ice skating at Rockefeller Center. “It was so sweet, but not something that someone who grew up in Manhattan would ever have thought to do on a first date,” she says. The couple met through friends and continued to date while living in the city, even getting engaged at French restaurant Daniel in the Upper East Side. But for their wedding day, they planned a garden-inspired affair at the Goff ’s family home in Fort Worth. They danced and dined on June 8, 2019, atop a black-and-white checkered dance floor that mirrored the home’s marble flooring. “Christopher and I wanted our wedding to feel intimate and be a true representation of us as a couple and our families,” she says. “Having our ceremony and reception at the Goff residence was the only place we ever considered.”
Home Sweet Home
When the couple tasked Todd Events with the mission to turn the Goff residence into a wedding venue, they had but one request—make the reception feel like an extension of the home. The 1926-era residence had all of the architectural characteristics of an English manor, so Todd and crew came up with the idea to fashion the tent after the citrus tree greenhouses that were common in homes in the late 18th and 19th centuries. “We wanted the tent to feel like a beautiful orangery on the property,” Averi says. “We really wanted to let the natural and existing beauty of the house and property to shine throughout.”
The Shape of Things
Todd Fiscus and his team considered every detail, even replicating a quatrefoil shape throughout. “The dance floor was in the shape of a quatrefoil, with chandeliers punctuating each circle,” says Averi. “Our cake was under a similar quatrefoil awning, and even our head table was in the shape of a quatrefoil. Even if guests didn’t notice each and every element, they walked in and sensed that this was something really special.”
Averi prepared for the wedding day at the Goff home. “My in-laws built their home, named ‘il Bacio’ (which actually means “the kiss” in Italian), with so much love and with the whole family in mind,” she says. “Their intention was not only to create a unique and beautiful home, but also for it to be a gathering place for family and friends.”
With This Ring
Real estate developer and family friend Dary Stone officiated. Dary has known Christopher since he was a little boy. “He took so much time and care in crafting the ceremony to make it unique to us and it was so special to have him lead our ceremony,” Averi says.
Happy Menocal designed the invites and crest, which were inspired by the natural beauty of the property and the house. “We loved the idea of using citrus fruits to introduce—or tease—our guests to the decor starting with the invitation,” Averi says.

The cake by Fancy Cakes by Lauren Kitchens features the same crest that was designed by Happy Menocal for the invitation.

Todd Fiscus came up with the idea to present the escort cards on beautifully decorated trays.

“Todd is so creative and was able to bring in elements of the home when creating our reception space,” says Averi. Guests could see down the gallery’s black-and-white Italian tiles all the way to the reception tent where the floors matched.
Orange You Glad
Todd and team designed the tent to look like an orangery, a greenhouse circa the early 1900s that stored citrus trees in the winter. Black-painted trellis details added to the charm and the garden vibe.

Sourced Cocktails provided an entirely custom cocktail menu with both nonalcoholic and alcoholic concoctions stemming from homemade blackberry-flavored drinks to rosé and champagne with hibiscus, whiskey and bourbon blended with lime juice, vodka with honeysuckle, and many more.
