Introducing the D Weddings ABCs of Etiquette: Sure, you can flip through Emily Post’s bible of good manners, but what do Dallas brides, planners, and guests expect when it comes to local wedding etiquette? Dallas wedding experts tell us how to graciously navigate every wedding-day situation.
Time to bust out that suit and tie! Lacey Di Nardo of Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Gardens decodes these frequent guidelines.
Cocktail: Wear a suit, sans tie, or slacks and a sport coat for the guys. Ladies will want to wear a cocktail dress.
White tie: The most regal of all dress code requests with the strictest rules in place for gentlemen: a long black tailcoat, white dress shirt, white vest, and white bow tie. Ladies should select a long, formal gown. Gloves are a beautiful touch for both ladies and gentlemen.
Casual: Di Nardo suggests khakis or jeans and sports coat for the gents and a maxi dress or more relaxed dress for the gals. Heels or a dressier sandal would work for a daytime event.
Black tie: Gentlemen should wear tuxedos, and ladies should wear a long gown or cocktail dress.
Black tie optional: Wear a tuxedo or dark suit for the gents and a long or cocktail dress for the women. This is the best dress code to play up your look with an over-the-top handbag and shoes.
