Tracy Diers and Darryl Davy met at the annual MTVReDefine event in 2015. They chatted for a bit at the event and then ran into each other again the next night at The Eye Ball at The Joule, where they really sparked a connection.
After dating for a year and a half, Darryl and Tracy planned to move into a new home together, and on December 23, 2016, Darryl took Tracy to the house to check out the progress. Darryl had brought in a small, pre-lit Christmas tree and said that he wanted the first memories in their home to be really great ones. And with that, he got down on one knee and popped the question.
To find her wedding gown, Tracy had friends come to appointments with her in Dallas and even planned a girls’ trip to Los Angeles to continue the search. Afterward, though, Tracy still came up empty. So, she went to one last store with her mom and finally found the one. “I loved this because it was such a special moment for my mom and I to have together,” Tracy says.
The couple wed on December 31, 2017, at the Hotel Crescent Court. Not fans of bright colors, the couple kept their wedding decor clean and neutral with pops of gold throughout to tie in the New Year’s Eve vibe.
Originally planning for an outdoor ceremony, the nuptials were moved indoors due to Dallas’ unpredictable weather. Tracy was admittedly disappointed until she looked outside and saw that it started snowing while she was getting ready in her suite—a tell-tale sign that the day ahead of her would be extraordinary. At the end of the ceremony, the bride’s parents surprised the couple with fireworks.
The couple described their reception as a “huge party” with every guest dancing along to their great band the entire evening–the night was even complete with gold disco balls and lighting that helped create a romantic ambiance. “It was a perfect way to ring in the New Year,” Tracy says.
The couple had an In-N-Out food truck—a favorite of Darryl’s—giving their guests the extra fuel they needed to keep dancing, served by waiters wearing the iconic In-N-Out hats.
When the clock struck midnight, Tracy’s parents surprised them yet again with giant confetti cannons. When they went off, confetti covered the room, creating an exciting end to their magical night and the perfect start to their new year together.
