This Highland Park Wedding Embodied Springtime

Kaitlyn Kay & Andrew Ryan

March 2, 2024

When mutual friends first introduced Kaitlyn Kay to Andrew Ryan, she immediately knew there was something special about him. “He was very funny and incredibly kind,” says Kaitlyn. “He still is.” The couple dated for five years, including three and a half years of long distance, before Andrew surprised Kaitlyn with an engagement ring. “I’ve always wanted a Bernese mountain dog, and Andrew told me we were meeting with a breeder at Flippen Park,” she laughs. “I jumped out of the car and was searching all around for a dog! When I turned around, Andrew was on one knee.” They planned a sunny, flower-filled March celebration at Brook Hollow Golf Club, where Kaitlyn’s family has been members for years. Says the bride: “I wanted my wedding to be the epitome of springtime, with happy, joyful colors.”

Kaitlyn Kay and Andrew Ryan’s March 2024 wedding day was a dream from beginning to end. Prior to their Highland Park United Methodist Church ceremony, the couple spent the morning getting ready with their bridal party at Brook Hollow Golf Club, which was also the site of their reception. Spending that time with her bridesmaids—who each donned a different spring hue—ended up being one of the bride’s favorite parts of the day. “Everyone was so relaxed,” Kaitlyn remembers. “My friends told me to be prepared for something to go wrong, but I was completely at ease the whole time.”

Heart and Sole

Kaitlyn’s Alaïa shoes were one of her favorite details from the day. “As cheesy as it sounds, I was so excited about the shoes because they had hearts! They were perfect for a day all about love,” she says.

Branching Out

“These were such a fun touch–it was like flowers without doing flowers,” says Kaitlyn of the forsythia branches on the escort card table.

Happy Couple

Stepping out for the first time as Mrs. Ryan, Kaitlyn felt overjoyed. “I grew up going to HPUMC—I always knew I wanted to get married there,” she says. “Everything went exactly as planned. It was perfect.”
