In planning every detail of their highly personalized November 2024 wedding—from their floral design to their engagement photos—Caitlin Clark and Christian Yazdanpanah intentionally zigged where others zag. “I was really waffling on even doing engagement photos,” says Caitlin, who is the online executive editor for D Magazine, adding in jest, “There aren’t any fields in Dallas I really connect with!” Luckily, her fiance had a vision. “I had a concept of elevating our daily routines into sophisticated candid shots,” says Christian, citing images of Old Hollywood icons as inspiration. The couple eschewed more typical settings in favor of their Lake Highlands neighborhood, capturing artful yet tongue-in-cheek portraits in their natural habitats—their favorite taco joint, the high school tennis courts, and their own backyard—while dressed to the nines. Says Christian: “We wanted our photos to remind us that even the most mundane days can feel glamorous when you spend them with someone you love.”
