The Bachelor‘s Catherine Lowe Shares Her Advice for Your Wedding Registry

Catherine and Sean Lowe
January 26, 2014

After Catherine Lowe accepted husband Sean’s final rose on ABC’s The Bachelor, the couple sealed the deal in a televised-live event at the Four Seasons’ Biltmore Resort in Santa Barbara, California. Despite the prying eyes, the couple stayed in lockstep all evening. “People will pull you in different directions, but the night is about you two, so stay together,” Catherine remembers, citing advice she received. “[In] all of our pictures, even ones where we’re completely facing different ways, our hands are still united.”

Best advice for a lasting marriage: “Just like if you wanted to complete a marathon or achieve something important to you, it takes work, even through the challenges,” Catherine says.

Best advice for registering: “It entirely depends on what is important to the couple,” Catherine says, before adding that it’s also helpful to remember the meaning behind the gift. “I still have such fond feelings toward so many of the items … that remind me of our close friends who gave them to us!”

We still use:

Cutting board: Fellow Bachelor alums Ashley and JP Rosenbaum gifted the Lowes a cutting board “that I still use every day,” Catherine says. She likes having several to help avoid cross contamination.

Heirloom-worthy platters: With three young kids, Catherine and Sean may not use their nice pieces daily—but they’re still great to have for special occasions. “Last year, we had a small Thanksgiving gathering at our home, and there was no excuse not to set out our finest stuff!” Catherine says. “It made the normally chaotic and fun evening so much more elevated.”

Hotel Collection towels: You’ll never regret getting a set of high-quality towels in a timeless color. Catherine registered for classic white in every size. “We are still using ours all the time,” she says.

In 2025, I’d register for:

Cosori electric kettle: “It heats water so quickly. So efficient when you need to wake up with a cup of breakfast black tea in an instant!” says Catherine, who adds, “I wish I had it for my baby-bottle-making days.”

Breville coffee maker: If you’re someone who starts every day with a cup of joe, a top-of-the-line machine will make mornings much more tolerable. “I got a really nice coffee maker for Sean’s birthday one year,” Catherine says. “He uses it all the time!”

Dish towels: Catherine’s two criteria for dish towels: high-absorbency and fun designs that make you smile. “I have ones from travels and Harrods, which make me feel refined and put together as I have schmutz all over me,” she laughs.

Futura Cookware circular griddle pan: This large flat pan comes in handy more often than you might realize, Catherine insists.  “I use it and our little egg pan the most,” she says.
